Nich Shierle

Angler

Nick started Fly fishing at the age of 16. The journey began when he met a friend at work named Hayden Latimer. He showed him how to fly fish with a cheap fly rod he got at Cabela’s. With that caught his first trout, a wild brown trout, on the Upper Nantahala river in North Carolina. Nick and Hayden spent the next few summers out west fly fishing in rivers like the Madison, Beaverhead, and North platte, just to name a few. Nick learned the importance of fly presentation and how to control a drift. He started competing off and on from 2016-2020. He learned from some of the beast mentors in the SE like Chris Adelina on Team Georgia, Austin Shoemaker, John Oh, Ben Van Devender from Team Dead Drift, and Michael Bradley. He really entered the Competition scene winning Casting Carolina’s 2022, The 2022 Laurel creek Regional, The 22’ & 23’ Nantahala minis, and the 2024 Gold Cup. Nick joined Fly Fishing Team USA in 2024 with the goal to learn and soak up knowledge from some of the best Fly fishermen and Women in the United States.
