World Angler
Mike Komara began his fishing journey in Pittsburgh, Pa. He always loved fishing, but began fly fishing after being given a hand-me-down setup for his eighth birthday. He quickly fell in love with the sport, and filled any free time with chasing local panfish and stocked trout. He eventually heard about the U.S. Youth Fly Fishing Team, and attended a clinic they held in central Pennsylvania when he was thirteen. A few weeks later, he fished in his first competition and was hooked. Mike made the youth team in 2016, and went on to fish in three Youth World Championships. He came home with a team bronze from Slovenia and a team Silver from the Czech Republic, where he placed fourth individually and served as the team captain. After aging of the youth team, Mike started his blog and guide service, Fringe Fly Fishing. He also continued competing on the adult circuit, and tied for third overall in the latest cycle. In addition to serving as northeast coordinator and running the TUSAFF’s social media and website, he will be part of the worlds team fishing at this years World Fly Fishing Championships in France. Mike can be booked for guide trips and coaching at Fringeflyfishing.com, or at fringeflyfishing@gmail.com
