Overview
FFTUSA competitions are run primarily by volunteer hosts. Our hosts keep the cycles running to give themselves and others the opportunity to compete, earn points, and have fun. We value and appreciate all our current hosts, and are always looking for new ones to help expand the competition schedule. If you have an interest in bringing a FFTUSA regional event to your local waterways, or if you have questions about hosting an interregional or national championship, please reach out to one of the contacts listed below.
Host Duties
Hosting a FFTUSA regional competition is easy, but there are a few requirements to ensure all competitions in the cycle are equal, fair, and run smoothly. The host is responsible for ensuring that:
- All competition permits needed for the state and locality are in order
- The competition is being held at a time that is safe for the fishermen and fish
- The entry fee for the competition is no more than $25 (All of which is kept by the host)
- The competition is being held on water that is fair and can support the minimum number of beats needed
- The competition is posted on Flycomps.com for public viewing at least one month in advance
- The competition follows FIPS Mouche rules (with some approved exceptions)
- Score sheets are provided to anglers
- Beats are well marked before the competition, and that the markers are removed immediately after the last session
- Beat maps and meeting locations are posted before the competition
- Anglers are following the agreed upon rules and FFTUSA code of conduct throughout the event
These along with a few other things are what FFTUSA expects from a well run regional. For more information and support, or questions about hosting an interregional or nationals, please contact you regional coordinator listed below.
